In the past, I've always checked "keep me logged in for one week."
Today, when I pulled up the C19 page, it gave me an option to log in with my facebook account, google account, blogger account, etc.
To be curious, I chose to log in with FB, and then it took me to a FB page to share all my info with FB. So I stopped that process, and went back to my normal proboards log in.
Sooo... does this mean C19 is no longer a secret little haven for us? If I had logged in with FB, would my C19 postings be shared with all my FB friends? And can anyone now log in to C19 without registering first? ![[image]](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y149/cccat/C19/dazed013.gif "[image]")
This is concerning to me, as I sometimes post things (ie, about my evil witch sister-in-law) that I would not want all the world to see. Yikes! This is so much, much worse than I thought!
My post above now has a button that says "Share." And sure enough, it can be shared on Facebook.
Any solutions other than changing my username?!?!?!

Don't panic! I tried yesterday with both twitter and Facebook. The permission can always be revoked btw. in your twitter and Facebook account.
Each time an error occured.
It must be a feature with Proboards but not enabled by the moderators I'm presuming.

Apparently it worked today for me to link my facebook. Twitter didn't happen : error occured was the message i got. I don't see a tag here where i could post this on FB though.

This is a new feature Proboards has just introduced. (We are dealing with this over on AA also). Your post won't be "seen" on FB unless the person looking at it logs into C19.
The "timed" login feature is now gone.
This is the info from the Proboards blog:
Social Registration
We’ve made registering at your forum a breeze. Your visitors can import their registration information from their existing social networks. This saves them time and helps you build a larger community.
Social Login
After registering using your social network you can also login using the same network! All you need to do when logging in is click on the icon for your social network and we’ll log you straight into your account.
If you would like to take advantage of this feature but have already created a forum account, visit your forum profile and click on “Social Networks” to get started.
Social Sharing
Sharing information with your social networks has never been easier. We have introduced a new button at the top of each thread. Using this button you can share threads you find on Facebook, Twitter, and many other social networks quickly and easily.
Please enjoy these new features!
Many admins over on Proboards Support are complaining about these new features and codes are being written to modify them for those who opt to use them. So the admin staff here will make their determinations on how to use the new stuff.

PS You would have to link your account here to your FB/Twitter/whatever account in order to share posts. The "share" button formerly said "send to a friend" and that function was similar, only it involved copy/paste.

Squid, thanks SO much for the info! I'm glad to know that others in the virtual world are as bothered by this as I.
Still, I don't like the idea that my posts can be shared without my consent. sigh.. I guess I will have to change my C19 username, after all (since its my RL name, and a fairly unique one, at that).

I'm not liking any of this, either. I have not linked my account to any other network. I have been quite happy keeping the various aspects of my online life separate.

This was posted by an admin in Proboards Support today. There is a lot of controversy there about these new features.
I think I may need to clear something up about the social login feature. The social login feature allows existing members to append a social network to their account on the forum, which can make for an easier login process. So if they've already visited facebook for the day and went to your forum, that existing member already on your forum only has to click the facebook button to be logged into the account they already have. A random person with a facebook account cannot login to the forum just because they have a facebook account, they will need to use the registration page like anyone else and would be given a standard username like anyone else, and if you have limited registrations enabled, they will still need to wait to be approved before being able to login. The social login feature does not make private forums any less private than they were before.

Tangent:
I de-linked with twitter here but needed to do it in my twitter settings as well.
The same applies for Facebook: in application settings you remove it.
I see the benefit though as now we DON'T have the option anymore to stay signed it for however long we choose to.
Let's hope the share option can be removed or disabled

Ugh... I just have way too may professional colleagues and elected officials I'm FB friends with to take any risks. So, until the "share" button is gone, I shall henceforth be known as "LostinAustin."

The share option CAN be disabled, but it's up to the staff here to decide if they want to or not. 
That's good info, iz4blue, about having to de-link both here AND on your social account, thanks! I didn't know that.
