If you are generally annyoyed by ads, you may change from the internet explorer to Mozilla Firefox and use adblock.

THis is what I do urmel. I have no ads at all when on c19. There is one newspaper site I use which I can't access if adblock is on, so I have made it an exception in the adblock settings. They actually put up a page saying you can't use their site if ads are blocked in any way! After each session online I use CCleaner which does away with all the little footprints nearly every site leaves - especially newspapers and magazine sites and some of the more commercial blogs. I installed adblock following a suggestion here in the tech forum and my son told me about CCleaner.

I have just started using adblock (love it!), but today I logged in on IE and the ad on the first page of this thread was for SnagIt - a screencapping software [image]

I think I was tuning out the ads on C19, and I didn't ever notice anything particularly offensive. But ads that start making noises at you really bug me on other sites! And getting rid of the annoying Facebook ads was really nice ;D

I've been bothered by this one, too (although probably wouldn't go as far as to say I was offended, just tired of looking at her).

I think the text on the top left hand corner is some virtual reality game that is being advertised 'cos I keep getting things about EVONY (the text in the corner) with slightly different ads on the AA@RAC board.

I'm fairly offended by this one:

I'm not sure exactly what its means or what its selling, but the implication is certainly that the scantily clad young lady is road kill. [image]

AT least these had their clothes on. The ones I saw the 'ladies' and 'gents' were neck-ed

I too use Firefox/Adblock. Not that the point about THIS ad changes things, but I'd hazard a guess that the lady in question is a 3D graphics creation using specialist software. She looks quite 'plasticky' and too doll-like.

I suppose ultimately the question of whether or not an ad is annoying/offensive is quite a subjective one, particularly where overt crassness isn't employed.

I'm not sure if this is one of them but I saw one that has a couple of photos of a guy with curly red hair, which mentions getting ripped and 'roids (yech!). In one picture, the guy is clearly naked. It gets cut off just before the naughty bits can really be seen, but it's still pretty disgusting.

I checked this thread and there it was again! So I made a screenshot and I'll try to send it to you (by pm, I assume--if not, I can post here).

That guy is Carrot Top, a comedian. He used to be a scrawny dude. Now he is scary!
