I have the "skin" set on The Boss is Looking and the share button is still there. I was able to email a post I did not write. The share button continues to be very worrying. I switched to a couple other skins and they had no share button.

No, not forever (as far as I know) - just till you close your browser or log out. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
That's correct. Now that the '1 hour/1 day' etc. box has disappeared, you need to tick 'Keep me logged in' instead. However, this will only keep you logged in until you log out or close your browser.

I don't know if this has been covered before but I thought I'd add this.
I went to my profile to change the time from Daylight savings. Along with Bookmarks, User smilies etc, there is now "Social Networks". I didn't click on it.
I have always left my log-on to "forever" so I haven't noticed any changes. I just logged off now in order to check it out. The only change is now there is no option to choose a time limit for the log-on, just the option to click on "Keep me logged in" (Or something like that.)
I use a different email address for my facebook account. Does that safeguard me an my posts from being posted on my facebook?
This is all very confusing. I only noticed the share button after reading this thread.

That "Social Networks" is part of the "new" log in procedures Proboards just rolled out this week. On AA, we've disabled all of it, including the "share" buttons. The admins here will decide if they want to keep any portion of it (like the "social networks" in the profiles) - I think they're going to remove the "share" buttons for all the skins.
Proboards disabled the timed logins when they made the above change. (They said "for various reasons" without elaborating!!)
If you share a post on Facebook, only people who are members of C19 can see the posts (they'll be taken to a login page). But I believe the admins here will probably disable all of that and all will be as before (except for the timed login, there's no option to bring that back).
Admins, if I've said too much or anything wrong, please delete this!

I wonder if it turned up just after my login details stayed blank and I had to put them in manually ( normally they just pop up to click) and the proboards thing is set up to default to having all those options. If so how do I remove them, or is it back to The Higher Authority?

Thank you for the explanation, Administrator. Obviously a moritorium on new members would be too much. What a pity it is an 'either or'. At least it is not 'us', as we feared.

What about the idea of having one or more days per week when new members can join, and social networking is turned off temporarily during that time? You don't have to log-in in order to see the C-box at the bottom of the C19 homepage, so we could use that space to let new people know when the next 'intake' would be. The registration time period could be set to be from [x] to [y] GMT; the only pain of this idea is that an administrator would likely need to be there to switch things over at the appropriate times...unless it could be automated.
